Work placement information

Work placement is an essential part of many AWT qualifications — applying your knowledge in a real workplace under the supervision of experienced professionals.

AWT’s role

AWT works closely with a network of approved host employers across South Australia. Our Work Placement Coordinator will assist in matching you with an appropriate organisation, ensure all compliance, safety and insurance requirements are met, and stay in contact throughout your placement to support your progress and wellbeing.

Before you begin

Depending on your course and host organisation, you may need:

  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • DHS Screening
  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Manual Handling (as required)
  • COVID-19 / immunisation evidence

Hours & assessment

Each qualification includes a set number of mandatory placement hours as outlined in the training package. You will also complete a Work Placement Logbook and assessment tasks to demonstrate your competency.

Benefits: apply your classroom learning in real-world settings, strengthen your resume and professional networks, build confidence and career direction — many AWT students are offered roles by their placement host.
